A closed - court team huddle set the scene for the league game yesterday.
Towns started the game slow with inaccurate kicking in the first Q, with 11 scoring shots to North's 2, they only led by 9 points. It took them 23 minutes to score a major on the scoreboard.
At the Q time address, Coach Baynes asked more from his players and was rewarded with his boys adding a further 50 pts in the 2nd Q.
Rick Marianna celebrated another milestone in his colorful football career, booting his 500th goal. Team mates flanked Rick seconds after the 2 white flags went up.
It was an onslaught in the last half with the Bulldogs revolving door unstoppable.
This is only the second time in their senior career that it has been a Carlyon Free Zone. The brothers have 3 individual styles of football and put it all together on game day.
Dale Baynes sidelined himself keeping a watchful eye on his players from the coaches box, and also giving restoration to his body. He has the return of 6 players to the side in a couple of weeks and no one would envy his job on selections for the 3 hard games prior to finals.
The young players added extra energy to the dynamic team and were worthy of selection.
Finals contenders no more this season but.. The Towns Reserves gave it all they had yesterday in a hard fought battle against the 2nd seeded Northampton.
In the first half Towns were behind by 16 points.
Then came a new game plan which saw the Reserves take the lead in the 3rd Q.
They went goal for goal with their worthy opponents.
As time ticked by people were on the edge of their seats with full voice to help bring their Reserves boys the 4 points. That was not to be.
Talking to Coach Kishere after the game he gave full credit to his charges.
With no hope for finals, they have 3 hard games of football to play out this season and will do so with the determination of winning all games.
An exceptional style of football was displayed by the young Towns Colts side.
They took charge of the game from the first bounce.
A few changes were seen on the field with players being put out of their comfort zone and were asked to be accounted for. They passed the test with flying colours.
Young Clinton Cox was very easy to watch throughout the game. He showed he can be as versatile as the best of them. Today the boys were switched on to the game from the onset.
They kept North out of their forward area for most of the 4 Q's.
Jumping into 2nd spot will give them that extra boost they have been looking for.
Is there a right or wrong way to write a sports report ?
The writer does not claim to be a professional sports writer. She is a lay person with her own unique way with words, full of flair, captivating the events in her own special way. TFC readers don't want a recap of the game, they were there watching it. They want the added little extras on the entire game day, Colts & Reserves reports as well.
Her passion for the game we all love, & Towns Football Club keep the readers entertained each week. The writer owns all responsibility in her words & this should not reflect on Towns Football Club.
She does not claim to be a professional photographer but does hope to give some enjoyment to the viewers.
