An open game was expected with Towns & Mullewa going head to head, both being attacking sides.Defense was also going to play a part in the game, with Towns in the end, coming out on top. The big ruck Shaun Tunbridge took flight & won most of the hit outs in the game, even though there was some falter by players in the middle.
The defense banded together holding back the force of Mullewa, allowing Towns to grab opportunity and take it back down to their forward end.
There was a lot of pride in this game for both sides yesterday.
Gus Mourish being a part of both clubs in his football career, had sons playing on opposition teams.
Calib Mourish kicked Towns 22nd goal. Only fitting as he plays with # 22 & his father Gus played with # 22.
Less than half an hour till bounce down, in what was Towns Reserves 2nd last game of the season against the "top of the ladder" Mullewa,Brett Kishere's boys stepped onto the footy field against all odds.
From the first bounce, the Towns boys gave it their all, leading Mullewa for 3 Q's of the game. With only 8 of the Reserves taking the trip out to Mullewa, Coach Kishere had to resort to drastic measures. Brett & Team Manager Travis Drew quickly donned the Red & White jumper to give aid to the side. With still 3 players needed to fill a side, 3 League boys ran out with the Reserves for half a game. Mullewa got the run on Towns in the final Q resulting in a 19 point loss to the Bulldogs. Well done to all the players involved in a match, that gave the small amount of supporters that went to Mullewa, great pride to be a member of the Towns Football Club.
A good effort yesterday by the Colts side.
They kept Mullewa from scoring a major throughout the entire game.
Key players were switched on,resulting in a victory.
They have a hard game next week against a top rival in Railways.
Is there a right or wrong way to write a sports report ?
The writer does not claim to be a professional sports writer. She is a lay person with her own unique way with words, full of flair, captivating the events in her own special way. TFC readers don't want a recap of the game, they were there watching it. They want the added little extras on the entire game day, Colts & Reserves reports as well.
Her passion for the game we all love, & Towns Football Club keep the readers entertained each week. The writer owns all responsibility in her words & this should not reflect on Towns Football Club.
She does not claim to be a professional photographer but does hope to give some enjoyment to the viewers.
