Dad loved Towns, Mum jokes it was his second home and that was true. I remember when we both went walking, during football season it had to be laps around the oval before the boys started training so he could be there to do his duties. He hated to miss training or a game, especially when he was sick. It was sad to see his health deteriorate and he had to give up what he loved. As much as you all loved Dad he loved you too and he was proud to be a part of Towns Football Club. Today we scatter his ashes over his beloved "home". With a strong southerly Dad will be at his final resting place and he will never miss a game now. If you see me doing laps, I wont be talking to myself. I love you Dad, your daughter, Gaye. 7 May 2010

Thank you,

Having been involved with Towns Football Club all my life. I have grown up with “Uncle Jim” as a constant every football season and have admired his dedication and work ethic he has put into this club. From obviously being the head trainer, to doing the dishes at functions, sweeping out the change rooms, not only at our home games, but also after away games too.

Last year (2008) before the 2nd semi final against Railways, I was on my way to the rooms for the half time meeting and saw Jim’s number plates and looked up and realised he was in his ute. So I walked over to say hello and was shocked at what I saw. Jim was in there with his oxygen on and still barely able to breathe, it really hit home to me that one day we were going to be without him, and I was thinking that day was almost upon us. Needless to say we had a good beating that day and I put in a shocker, but Uncle Jim was still there to watch and support us regardless of his own health.

I have been mentioned, along with Jim Gray and I would throw in Rick Marianna as the greatest players to play at Towns Football Club, but what we do out there on the field pales in significance to what Jim Dryden has done for our club and I truly believe that he is the biggest legend our club has ever seen. TRAINER
When I arrived back home in OZ, 20+ years ago I met this tall man with white hair at darts. We had a good friendship and he kept saying why isn't young Christopher playing footy for Towns.. Well we did go to Towns & we all know that story. Trainer, seat 3 in the corporate box & functions will never be the same without you. I will honour that spray of RED in the hair on GF morning.Thank you for calling us your mates. We love you & will miss you..

*Ode to Jimmy Boy* Poem from Cluneys hearts!*

Jan,Terry ,Mike,Gemm and Owen too,
plus our 3 Grandies [and future ones in blue?]
Thank our Towns Family for this chance to say
How Very Loved our Drydens are in such a special way!
Struth ....
wot can we say about Jimmy [and Ruth!]
Big kind man
with power in the hand!
blond mop of hair
huge heart that did care;
his voice we could hear
but kids had no fear
he just loved puddings and sweets
the boys just loved his massaging feats
Now it's time for a well earned rest
Us Cluneys remember you're simply the best!! XX - P
