UNDER 16's - Towns v Chapman Valley

Firstly the u16s would like to pass on their condolences to the Dryden Family for the loss of a wonderful man and a great example to the youth of today.
Chapman valley very kindly allowed us to move the venue and the time of this game so that we were able to attend Jim’s funeral. We thank them for that.
This first game back after the school holiday break is always an interesting event: it’s always tough to get the guys focused and back into footy mode. It was even harder this week with the early start, having so few players available and meeting the topside.
The 18 players that did turn up put up a gallant effort and really it was only the inaccuracy in front of the goal was the telling factor, had some of the points been goals the result would have been much healthier and much closer.
Jason Bethune kicked a classic in the opening few minutes shocking CV into action. Sadiq Miska popped the second into the bag in the second quarter and after that it became a points fest.
Brandon Collard and Greg Cross worked hard in the centre all day. The forwards worked hard and the feed was good but the target was hard to find. The Back line battled hard all game with Tyler, Declan and Sam clearing the area on many occasions. The difference being CV managed more shots at goal and a few more found their mark. However they were not entirely accurate either. The final score: CV 9goals 14 behinds 68 to Towns 2 goals 11 behinds 23.
Thanks to all those players that turned up to play. As the end of the season approaches and the possibility of finals football we need to stay focuses and work hard in the next few weeks to ensure you get the results you deserve.
Next week we meet Railways White which will be another test but one that I know as a team you are very capable of passing.
See you at training !!!!!!.

UNDER 14's TOWNS vs Dongara

What a Game!!!!!  Wow – you boys really pulled together today.   Well done to all of you on a fantastic team effort.

Congratulations on your win against Dongara, even after kicking a whopping 20 points.  Imagine if they had of been goals.  Not to worry – it was a fine effort.

Best players voted by the parents today were Dylan, Calvin and Connor.  Connor played a sensational second half and even kicked a goal and a couple of points.  Voted as best on ground by me, the Team Manager, went to Tristian.  You can run boy!!!!!  A great effort by everyone.

We had lots of different goal scorers today;  these were:   Dylan (3), Tyson (3), Calvin (2), Adam (1), Ethan (1), Tristian (1) and Connor (1).

The Umpire awarded us an “E” point and said it was a great game on both sides.

Thanks to Sean for stepping up as head coach  - a job well done.  Speaking of Coaches, thank you to Alex McIntosh for giving your time to these boys over the past few years.  We now have a new Coach, “Cobber”, who is looking forward to bringing in some changes and new skills to you boys.    All the best Cobber for our future.

A special thank you must also be put forward to Dongara for arranging all the umpires today due to a funeral of one of Towns Members.  Most of our club attended the funeral, so we really appreciated the assistance today.

See you all at training with Cobber on Wednesday.  Our next game is at the Rec against Railways.

Lisa.
