UNDER 16's - Towns v Railways White

What a tremendous game of football. A one-point victory to the mighty Bulldogs with just 10 seconds left on the clock. Congratulations to all involved.
Special thanks to Rodney Ryan, Dylan Whitby- Taylor, Ethan Merry, Tristan Simpson and Sharzah Kelly all under 14s players who helped out on the day. They fitted into the team and were involved throughout the game.
In what was a very even contest Towns kicked 3 goals 3 to Railways 3 goals 1 in the opening term. The second quarter saw Railways kick an extra goal to Towns to take a 3 point lead into half time. The third quarter was low scoring for Railways with them only kicking a single behind and Towns kicking 3 goals 1 behind enabling Towns to take a 15 point lead into the final quarter. Railways dug deep and clawed back the lead and with 43 seconds left on the clock they kicked their third goal of the quarter to give them a one-point lead. The ball was cleared out of the centre and found Graham Adams in the forward 50, in his typical style he played on and kicked his SEVENTH of the day to give the Bulldogs the lead with 10 seconds on the clock. The final bounce was just a matter of making sure the Railways didn’t get the ball and the boys obtained a terrific victory.
Thank you all - I could not have asked for a better birthday present.
Goal kickers: Graham Adams 7, Sadiq Miska 2 and Chris McCarthey 1.
Best on ground was hard to pick: there were so many players who just gave it all they had. Shaquille Gregory was just awesome in the back line. Ashley Green – Headland just kepted popping up everywhere, as did Greg Cross and William Thorne. Torren Wear was busy in various positions and Kristian Beven was as reliable as ever. Graham’s 7 goals were wonderful.
The most pleasing things was to see how you worked as a team and just hung in there, when Railways forth back you with stood the pressure and came out very worthy winners. Great stuff.
