We had a very strange start to this game. 15mins before bounce
down we only had 14 players. An emergency call to the 14s who
were still playing their game ensured that we would at least
have a team at some stage. A big thanks to Lisa for getting
that together for us and thanks to Calvin Parfitt, Matt Drage
and Ethan Merry for coming across after their game. These players
all put in a top effort and will be a good grounding for next
year.
So if you need a lift to the game or you are running late please
let both the coaches or the team manager know and we will make
sure you get there on time.
The first 10 minutes of the game were not the best I have seen.
It seemed like the lights were on but nobody was at home, thankfully
somebody found the switch half way through the quarter and things
just got better and better.
At the end of the first quarter we had a slim 5 point lead which
with the start we had could have been so much worse.
The next three quarters were really just a training drill. St
Pats did not score for the rest of the game. We even saw a complete
change of forwards and defense …must be a new coaching
tactic
Towns consistently peppered the goals – not accurately
at times but we ended up winning 16 goals 15 behinds 111 to
2 goals 3 behinds 15.
Goals scorers were Graham Adams (5) Greg Cross (4) Sadiq Miska
(3) one each to Chris (Zac) Bell, Wayne Bonney, Shaquille Gregory
and Calvin Parfitt(from 14s).
Best on ground was our little pocket dynamo Greg Cross who lifted
the boys in the first quarter and played hard attacking footy
all game. Wayne Bonney seemed to be everywhere and Chris McCarthy
backed up from last week’s game with another solid performance.
Shannon Woods in his fiftieth kept the midfield on their toes
and a fantastic 5 goals from Graham Adams put the icing on the
cake.

Not such a great game guys. Not
to worry…it happens. The weather was horrible with the
wind and rain, but that’s no excuse, footy is a winter sport.
Brigades were just to good for us. Let’s just try heaps
more next week.
Our best players were Jayden Simpson, Jayden Mitchell, Matt Peters,
Tim Coaby and Calvin Parfitt. Adam Bethune was
our only goal scorer with 2 goals. Well done boys –
you put in a great effort, it just wasn’t our day for a win.
Thanks to Rob Colley for field umpiring. Muchly appreciated
and Robbie Davidson for your continued support.
Our last game will be played this Saturday at home. We are
playing St. Pats, so lets try and make it a win for the end of the
season.
Presentation and Trophy Awards Night has been set for 16th September
at 5.00pm. This evening will award our players recognition
for what they contribute to the team. It is compulsory that
you all attend. Dinner will be provided. You will be
sharing the evening with the U16’s as well. A notice
will be sent out at training this week. Bring everyone from
the family and friends to watch this presentation. You never
know, you may even get a special award yourself!
It would be really cool boys, if you U14’s could
support our U16’s as they head into the finals. Perhaps
you could turn up at the games and cheer them on. I know they
would love to have you there.
Good luck next week against St. Pats.
