UNDER 16's - Towns v Railways White at Wonthella

The score line does not look too impressive but as far I am concerned we had a win.

We actually only had 12 of our 30 man squad available for selection and of those only 4 had played 16s before. 8 of our under 14s put their hands up to play up and allow us to actually avoid a forfeit so a very big thank you to all players for their effort and endeavour on the day.

Our regular coaches we had to attend a coaching coarse so Rory Chapple very kindly stepped in and performed an excellent role as mentor to the players on the day.

When you consider that Railways fielded a premiership winning side our gallant younger, smaller and less experience players gave all they could: the score at the end of the day may not have been as we would have wished but the comments from the crowd, umpires and Railways coaching staff were full of praise and a quite respect for our tenacious bulldogs. Well done to all involved.

Goal scorers on the day with two each were Christopher (zac) Bell and Calvin Parfitt – an U14 who played up and who were standing alongside defenders that were twice the size of Dale Baynes!!!.

Everyone contributed to this game and I saw every player step up and give their best effort: quite honestly we could have asked for no more.

Next week we play Northampton at Wonthella – should be a good game.

Final score:
Towns 4.4.28 lost to Railways 16.9.93
