UNDER 16's - Towns v Brigades

Firstly CONGRATULATIONS TO JEREMY ADAMS for playing his 50th game this week.
The boys secured another win this week against Brigades. The whole side contributed to this victory allowing the coaches to try some players in different positions and rotating the bench throughout the game.
The first quarter was very clean and accurate with six straight goals to just one behind for Brigades. The second was a little more even with two goals each being scored. Bulldogs lead was 50 to 17 at half time. A good third quarter saw us kick 4 goals to their one and two goals each in the final quarter saw the Bulldogs winning 14 goals 8 behinds 92 to 5 goals 7 behinds 37 points.
Great team effort all day and lots of support around the ground for each other all game. Well done to all players.
Goal scorers: Graham Adams & Jason Bethune 4 each. Shaquille Gregory 2 and one each to Wayne Bonney, Greg Cross, Sam Middleton and Sadiq Miska.
Best players was a tough challenge for the parent I asked this week and really it could have gone to any or all of the 25 players on the day but after much deliberation: Greg Cross, Torren Wear, Steve McCarthy, Chris McCarthy and Zac Bell.
This was the half way point in the home and away season which see us with 5 wins and only 2 losses to the two sides above us on the ladder so lets see if we can maintain this record and just give Chapman Valley and Railways White a run for their money as we head to the business end of the season.
Next week we meet Rovers at Greenough at 11.00am.

UNDER 14's TOWNS vs. ROVERS

It felt really weird for me today not playing at home! I felt out of my comfort zone. I wonder if you boys did too after our loss to Rovers. We better get used to not playing at Wonthella boys, because we don’t have another home game now until Round 12. Not to worry. You boys played an excellent first quarter, only it fell apart after Dylan got knocked to the ground. We know you have the ability to take on and win against all our opposition teams, you just need to work more at playing as a team and not as individuals. Let’s give it more of a team effort in our next game, and always help each other out on the field!

Special mention for our most outstanding players in Round 7 goes to Jayden Simpson. You chased those Rovers boys all game. Well done Jayden. Also to Dylan Whitby-Taylor, even after your fall in the first quarter, you still came back fighting. Daniel Barnard as usual, great marks! And Ethan Merry, another top game for you!

Our Goal scorers, each with one goal, were Daniel Barnard, Adam Bethune, Timothy Coaby, Matthew Peters and Jayden Simpson. Well done boys! A special mention to Calvin our Captain also, for his mature behavior when a problem could have turned nasty with a Rovers player. Calvin behaved appropriately and sorted out the issue straight away and was thinking of our Team and the Club with the way he responded. Very good thinking Calvin. Its stuff like this that makes footy really enjoyable to watch! Playing in great spirit!

Thank you very much to the U16’s fella, (Christopher Zac Bell), who helped out with our Boundary Umpiring and then to Sean Taylor for taking over when Zac had to get ready for his own game!

Sean Hickey, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU……your help and assistance is GREATLY appreciated as always.

Boys there is NO TRAINING THIS WEDNESDAY. Training will resume on Friday! We have our Bye this weekend, but still want to get at least one training in this week, so make sure you attend. You all know now that if you don’t train, you won’t play!

It was great to have a full side again and to see so many of you at training on Friday.

AND NOW A CRY FOR HELP - The U14’s are in desperate need for an adult to do the running. Each week we are relying on kids to do this job and it’s really not working out for the Team. IS THERE A PARENT OR AN OLDER BROTHER, UNCLE, FRIEND OF ANY OF OUR 30 PLAYERS WHO COULD HELP FILL THIS ROLE EACH WEEK! Alex is desperate for someone to do this job! Lisa is the only person allowed on the field in emergency situations. The coach cannot walk onto the field. Unfortunately, Lisa is scoring at each game, and generally too far away from the play if there is an injury. We NEED SOMEONE to be able to run for Alex and speak to the kids on the field, and just in general to help out on game day! Surely there is one parent out of our 30 kids that play that can volunteer for this role! Please call Lisa 9921 5580 if you can help.

DON’T FORGET THE BYE IN ROUND 8!

Have a good week everyone!
