On a day that saw all four seasons weather wise and very few
goals we secured our seventh victory for the season.
The final score was 5 goals 8 behinds to Towns and 1 goal 4
behinds to Railways Blue. The score line would make you think
there was not much to see but it actually was an entertaining
game. A tussle of ball control and determination saw our Bulldogs
pull off another win.
Goal scores were two each to Graham Adams and Shaquille Gregory
and one to Jason Bethune. There may not have been many scored
but they were all excellent goals in difficult conditions.
Best on ground performance from William Thorne who worked really
hard around the centre of the ground all day. Shaquille Gregory(with
his own shorts this week) seemed to be everywhere and his two
goals were a pleasure to see watch fly over the head of the
goal umpire. Other players who warrant a mention this week were
Sadiq Miska, Josh Clark and Chris McCarthy who worked really
hard all match.
This was not one of our biggest wins but it was a well deserved
one: this week has not been the easiest for the players but
they all knuckled down and worked well and right through the
game to earn themselves the win.
Well done to all players you can be proud of yourselves. You
did really well.
The school holidays mean that we have no games for three weeks.
Our next match will be against Chapman Valley who have earned
themselves top stop on the ladder to date. This will be our
benchmark…lets give them a run for their money guys and
show them just how good you are.
Zac and Scott are still wanting everybody to train on Wednesday
over the holidays. If you are away or can’t make it please
let them know.
A rather disappointing game today fellas with only a few of you actually
putting in the effort. Most of you looked like you were half
asleep. Boys you need to man up much more and call for the ball.
This just wasn’t happening and you cannot expect good results
when you play this way.
Jayden Mitchell put in a good effort today and stood out as one of
our better players. Jake Hickey also played a better game today
and got back into the pack. “Welcome back Jake”.
…and as usual, Daniel Barnard was there to pick up the slack.
You kids are relying on Daniel way too much and he cannot carry you
all on his own. He needs to have people there to pass or kick
to. C’mon Boys, help each other out.
Our goal scorers today were Adam Bethune and Jayden Mitchell.
Good work boys.
This is probably the first time I haven’t been positive about
writing my match report. Even when we have had tough games and
don’t win, I always try to keep on encouraging you kids and
letting you know that things will get better. – Boys things
will get better, but you have to be on your game. So chins up!
And maybe our next game, which will be in Dongara after the holidays,
we may do better.
Thank you to Kayne and Ben from the League for helping me out today
with Boundary and Field umpires. I don’t know why we can’t
get the support from our families to help out with these jobs, but
want you to know that when you do show up, it is really really really
appreciated. League boys need to let me know on Fridays training
that I have their help for the following game. I must
have at least 2 helpers, preferably 3, at every game please.
Thanks to Ian for running for us, and Declan for starting out on the
Boundary, and Alex for organizing a water boy.
U14 Boys, you need to come to trainings. And more importantly
to our games. We only had 19 there today. We have a team
of 29. Where are you all??????? Let Lisa know when you can’t
make it……and using the excuse of “I slept in”
or “I couldn’t get there” is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!
If you want to play footy, then make sure you are at the games on
time or call to organize a lift.
Training will definitely be on this Wednesday and Friday (unless it
is absolutely pouring down with rain). Otherwise, we expect
to see ALL OF YOU THERE. Then after that, our next training
will be on the first Wednesday after the school holidays.
