Having come off such a heavy loss against Rovers: this week's game
was always going to be a challenge. Chapman Valley has been improving
steadily over the past few weeks and they certainly arrived ready to play.
Like last week we started very slowly only kicking 2 behinds in the first
quarter. CV were on target at the other end kicking 5 goals, 1 behind
to give them a handy 29 point lead at the end of the first quarter. Tim
Hamilton had to get carried off the field early in the with ankle injury
which left us with only 16 on the field.
The second quarter was another low scorer for us with only 1 goal being
added to the score. CV kicked another 2 goals and 5 behinds to take a 40
point lead into the major break.
A stern talking to from the coach: strapping and lollies from the manager
and Jason arriving (thanks to Jason for rushing from work for the last
few weeks to ensure we have numbers) meant that at least we started
with all 18 for the second half. Tim was terrific to come back on, picking
up fairest and best votes for his courage and effort and his goal.
We played better footy in the second half and out scored them in the
last quarter but the damage had been done by then.
